Lakeside Cottage

Background

The owners of this seasonal antique cottage on the edge of a tranquil Massachusetts lake wanted to make it a year-round residence, but it was in such bad shape that they wondered if they should tear it down and build new.

The Renovation

As part of our detailed pre-construction process, we determined that several factors would restrict new construction, so we decided that the best course of action would be to renovate the existing building completely. As part of the renovation, we stabilized the foundation, leveled the sagging floors, pulled the leaning walls back into plumb, installed high-performance insulation in the walls and roof, and installed all new windows, trim, siding, interior finishes, and all-new systems. The result is a gorgeous lakeside cottage with high-performance materials and quality craftsmanship.
