The owners of this seasonal antique cottage on the edge of a tranquil Massachusetts lake wanted to make it a year-round residence, but it was in such bad shape that they wondered if they should tear it down and build new. As part of our detailed pre-construction process, we determined that there were a number of factors that would restrict new construction, so we determined that the best course of action would be to completely renovate the existing building. As part of the renovation, we stabilized the foundation, leveled the sagging floors, pulled the leaning walls back into plumb, installed high-performance insulation in the walls and roof, installed all new windows, trim, siding, interior finishes, and all-new systems. The end result is a gorgeous lakeside cottage with high-performance materials and quality craftsmanship throughout.
