This beautifully detailed circa 1900 Victorian was in such bad shape that it languished on the market for many months before finding a buyer who could see its potential. North River was brought in first as an advisor prior to the purchase, and again to complete the design and renovation phases for the new owners. In addition to a significant amount of deferred maintenance throughout the building, it had also been converted into a two-family home during the most recent portion of its long life, so there was plenty of work to be done (and undone!). We modernized the flow of the interior by opening up the floorplan on the first floor, while at the same time taking great care to preserve many of the original features that made it such a special home in the first place. The result is a perfect blend – a home that perfectly suites a modern family lifestyle without losing its antique charm.
